Assalammualaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
Innama dunya fana
Sayyidina Jabir r.a. reported that he was with Allah's Messenger s.a.w. when a person in very clean garments came to him. He was very handsome. He offered salam and asked the prophet s.a.w to describe the reality of this world. He said, "The world is like the dream a sleeping person sees."
The man then asked about the next world and the prophet s.a.w. said, "The Hereafter is lasting and one group will go to Paradise while the other to Hell."
The man asked, "What is paradise?" "The reward for the pious deeds done in this world (the one who forsakes this world for the reward)." The man enquired again about hell and the prophet s.a.w said, "The recompense for the evil deeds in this life." The man asked, "Who is the best individual for this ummah?" The prophet s.a.w said, "He who obeys Allah in this world."
"Tell me, how should one live in this world?" Allah's messenger s.a.w. said, "Like one who seeks the caravan, who is always alert."
The man's next question was, "What is the life of the world." He was told, "As much as the one who stays behind the caravan (which is very little)."
He asked again, "What is the distance between the world and the Hereafter?" The prophet s.a.w. said, "As much as it takes the eye to twinkle."
The man went away and the prophet s.a.w. disclosed that he was Jibreel a.s. who came to teach them so that they may not show much concern for this world.
