Abu 'Abd ar-Rahman 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud r.a. narrates: "I asked the Messenger of Allah s.a.w.: 'Which deed is the most beloved to Allah tabarakallahu wa ta'ala?' He replied: 'Offering salah at its appointed time.' I asked: 'Then, which deed?' He replied: 'Being dutiful to parents.' I asked: 'Then which deed?' He replied: 'Waging jihad in the cause of Allah.''''
