The Last 10 Days: Change Now!

Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Raheem
Assalammualaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

Subhanallah walhamdulillah. How time passes like waterfalls! Now it is already the last 10 days of Ramadhan, where these are the days that we can pray to Allah to be saved from an-naar (the hellfire). Make haste O'dear self!

There are so many things to share but so little time. My dear friends, have you ever felt that you want to find peace, solace and to just be sure about what you are doing in this life? If the answer is yes, then welcome to a journey, where you will embark on the greatest, most beautiful journey of finding your soul, knowing your purpose of life and ways of achieving eternal success.

Oh my, this do sounds like some weird motivational talk. Masha Allah.
Oh well (shrugs)

Start changing now! While we are still young.

However, to find eternal happiness is simple, you have to find Allah. Find God. The One who had created us from nothing. The Most High who Knows everything, even to the numbers of leaves falling from the trees. Subhanallah walhamdulillah. Yet, we still have these unknown feeling of doubting things that are happening around us. The reason is simple, we have to learn more about Allah's creation and acknowledge Allah's greatness. Not that Allah need us to acknowledge Him, but it's for us. because when we acknowledge Allah's Greatness, then will Allah open doors for us to learn all the 'ilms in this world. The prophet s.a.w. once said that if we take a step to learn the knowledge of the dunya and akhirah, Allah will open doors to heaven for us. Masha Allah, tabarakallah! Hence, the second step is to learn. Go out and find a pious teacher. If you have doubts, ask for Allah's help. Ask Allah, make du'as to Allah for a pious teacher. Keep in mind that you must be 110% sure and have faith in Allah's power. If it took a long time while you are journeying to find a pious teacher, be patient. Allah will grant our du'as in many ways. And when you have found a teacher, you have to learn wholeheartedly. This means that there will be things that confuses us, so be brave and ask. Be humble and always make sure that our niyat are crystal clear and we are ikhas. And at the same time, we must be very patient when learning. Knowledge is light, and it will enlighten only those who wants it, who looked for it and who cleanses their heart for it. These are the keys of making sure that the 'ilm that we are learning are actually Guided by Allah through our teachers. And finally, we have to know that these things take time. Because Allah wants us to be among the pious, to be among the cream of the crop of His 'abd.

And insya Allah, I think this is it for now. These are reminders for me, a weak and puny slave in front of Allah. Do make lots of du'as for yourselves, family, the ummah and also for me. Insya Allah, may Allah forgive our sins, guide us to His Light, enlighten our heart and soul, shrouds us with Rahmah and make us among the pious and soleh wa musleh. Ameen.

Ramadhan Repost: 8th Ramadhan

Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Raheem
Assalammualaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

Subhanallah walhamdulillah wa astaghfirullah. Time do flies and its Ramadhan already! Masha Allah. So many things had happened these past few years since my ramadhan posts (refer to posts in year 2008) and masha Allah, I do missed those days tremendously. Now, I need some clorox to cleanse my dead heart. O'Allah, please accept my tawbah. Rabbigh firly wa tub 'alayya innaka anta-tawwabur raheem.

O'Allah, please cleanse my heart

Wash all the filth away and change my dead heart
make me alive again, give me a fresh start
so change my heart please and wash the filth away
don't leave me drowning here alone and astray

I spent my life running away from You
and now I have nowhere to turn except to You
I turn to You and begging You to be saved
and change me into the obedient slave

I have been doing all my life what I craved
Syaitan and nafs have always held me enslaved
I am ashamed that I have broken Your rules
worshipped my nafs and be an ignorant fool

But now I know the path leading me to deen
I bow to you and asking You to help me
I wish your name (asma al-Husna) to be engraved in my heart
I will be grateful to You - change this dead heart

My heart is dark and so my eyes remain dry
Hypocrisy and hubris wont let me cry
I am at Your door, I am begging You let me in
not push me back to my hopeless life of sin

So change my heart and forgive my sins these days
not leave me drowning here alone and astray
wash all the filth away and change my dead heart
make me alive again, give me a fresh start

"dan hendaklah kamu memohon ampunan kepada Tuhanmu dan bertaubat kepada-Nya, niscaya Dia akan memberi kenikmatan yang baik kepadamu sampai waktu yang telah ditentukan. Dan Dia akan memberikan karunia-Nya kepada setiap orang yang berbuat baik. Dan jika kamu berpaling, maka sungguh, aku takut kamu akan ditimpa azab pada hari yang besar (kiamat)"

The Coolness of Our Eyes

Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Raheem
Assalammualaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

I seldom make announcement but masha Allah, tabarakallah! I am announcing this with the hope of anyone who reads this make silent du'as of blessings and baraqah for us. Insya Allah. Subhanallah, how time flies leaving us with droplets of memories from yesteryears, making us gaze and wonder at the Greatness and Perfectness of Allah azzawajalla. After 9 months of carrying a living creature inside of my womb, I finally gave birth to a baby boy on the 14th of Rajab 1432Hijra (Friday). Alhamdulillah, praise be to Allah who have created us from nothing into a complete human being with responsibilities as an 'abd and a khalifah in this fana world!

Ahmad Jad Alhaq Bin Husni Mubarak

Rabbana hablana min azwajina wa dzurriyatina qurrata'ayun, waj'alna lil muttaqeena imama (Our Lord! Bestow on us from our spouses and our offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, and make us leaders for the righteous)
[Al-Furqan:74]

And We have commended unto man kindness toward parents. His mother beareth him with reluctance, and bringeth him forth with reluctance, and the bearing of him and the weaning of him is thirty months, till, when he attaineth full strength and reacheth forty years, he saith: My Lord! Arouse me that I may give thanks for the favour wherewith Thou hast favoured me and my parents, and that I may do right acceptable unto Thee. And be gracious unto me in the matter of my seed. Lo! I have turned unto Thee repentant, and lo! I am of those who surrender (unto Thee); Those are they from whom We accept the best of what they do, and overlook their evil deeds. (They are) among the owners of the Garden. This is the true promise which they were promised (in the world).
[Al-Ahqaf:15-16]

P/S: The pronunciation of my son's name is Ahmad Jaadalhaq, but as Malaysians tend to give unmeaningful nicknames for kids (i.e. Yusuf - Usop), my husband and I purposely put the spelling of my son's name in Malay as Ahmad Jad Alhaq so that he can either be called Ahmad, Jad or Haq (especially by his teachers in the future). May Allah bless us all and shrouds us with His Rahmah and bountiful Blessings. Ameen.

Untitled

Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Raheem
Assalammualaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

I had a chat with my father a few days ago
And he raised a very good question
Why is it that we always question and scrutinize people who (try to) do good deeds rather than encouraging them? And what is more weird and funny is the fact that we did not try to emulate the good deeds but create 'logical' reasons to feed our ignorance and heedlessness.
And there are so many (other) people doing all the bad deeds and emulating sins from others around us but we did not even bat an eyelid (let alone try to excercise the sunnah of amar ma'ruf nahi mungkar - refraining sins and encouraging goodness).
I agreed with my father because iman is something that you feel and is so abstract that logical reasonings are not applicable to explain the feeling of the sweetness of iman. And if these commentators don't have any 'ilm on what they are commenting on, they should know better than commenting bluntly without understanding why others do it.

Astaghfirullah hal azheem

Welcome to the confused and secular society
Where we are the product of liberalism and secularism without us realizing it

Because, if we don't understand something
We should seek the answers in the right manner
(and the right intention)
And sometimes we'll never get the answers
Because our mind and soul are not ready yet to experience it
Whether we like it or not

But we should never stop seeking with sincere intentions
Because it will lead us to the truth
And the hikmah of Allah's creations and answers to all its mysteries
And then, will only you understand and feel the sweetness of iman and the meaning of brother/sisterhood in islam

(P/S: I am talking about people's ignorance of the religion and how sometimes when people says something bad about their brothers and sisters in islam who are trying to practice islam - though there might be some weakness here and there, they are actually mocking their deen without realizing it. And this is a reminder to myself too, who is not free of sins and is has many weakness)

And I am saying this not to offend anyone, but because I love my brothers and sisters in islam, and I want them to understand that in islam, when you love, you love people just like how you love yourselves. And I do love all of you for the sake of Allah.

Have You Ever?

Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Raheem

Love, Love, Love

Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Raheem
Assalammualaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

O'Allah, love our mother like how they love us! You are the Bestower of Love.

It is reported that one of the righteous people was passing through the street when he saw an open door out of which came a boy who was crying and weeping, followed by his mother who was pushing him out. She shut the door in his face and went back inside. The boy went a short distance away, and stood there thinking, but he could not find no other refuge than the house from which he had been expelled and no one else who would care for him as his mother would. Broken-hearted, he went back and found that the door is still locked. So he lay down on the doorstep and went to sleep, with the tear marks still streaking his face. A little while later, his mother came out. When she saw him in this state, she could not help herself. She embraced him, kissed him and started to weep, saying,"O' my son, where did you go? Who would care for you except me? Didn't I tell you not to disobey me and not to make me punish you?" Then she picked him up and went back inside with the boy.

The prophet s.a.w told us: "Allah is more compassionate towards His slaves than this mother towards her child."

This is a tale of love - how much Allah, Your Creator Love You.

Allahumma inni as aluka hubbaka wa hubba mayyuhibbuk, wal amalal-ladzee yuballighuni hubbaka. Allahumma aj-’al hubbaka ahabba ilayya min nafsi wa ahli wa min al-maa-il baarid (Oh Allah, I ask of Your love, and the love of that person who loves You and of those actions which attract Your love. Oh Allah, make Your love greater to me than the love of myself, my family and of cold water)

Thus I must change, and it starts now

Forgive me Allah, please

O'Allah, please cleanse our hearts from sins

"I have known people and kept company with groups who neither rejoiced when the things of this world came to them, nor grieved when they lost anything in this world. The life of this world was more insignificant to them than dust. One of them might live for a year or for sixty years without ever having a garment that would entirely cover him, and without ever having anything that would come between him and the ground, and without ever having any food that he could ask to be prepared for him in his own home. When night came, they would be on their feet, with their foreheads flat against the earth, tears rolling down their cheeks, secretly calling on Allah to save them on the Day of Judgement. If they did something good, they never stopped being grateful for it, and they were always asking Allah to forgive them for it. By Allah, they were not safe from wrong actions, and were saved only by their constant turning in repentance. May Allah be pleased with them and grant them His mercy..."

Lost and Found

Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Raheem
Assalammualaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

All praise to Allah for the blessings He bestows us. I was talking to my colleague at work, and she shared with me a few of her life experiences. After sitting and reflecting on what she had told me, and what she sincerely want in life, I realize that in every soul, there is a thirst to know more about Allah, to be closer to Him, just to feel the sweetness of iman that quenches one's dry heart and soul. But, due to the impurities that engulfed the heart as human grow, it becomes difficult - to admit to oneself that one needs Allah and follow what Allah had delineated in the Quran and what the prophet (pbuh) had modeled.

I remembered when Allah Guided me to the people who strive for jannah and I sincerely missed those moments. The moment when everything was new and fresh, where the words of Allah and reminders permeates the air and you drank it like it was liquor. Feeling as if you will be drunk on the words but you feel more alive, your heart clears up all the clogged blood vessels and pumps fresh and satisfying drink from the fountain of iman and knowledge.

Those were the days and now is the time to practice.
And I tell you, it is not easy.

And to note, those people were still around
And still do what they do best
Spreading knowledge & iman

Seek sincerely and you will be Found

When you purify your hearts just as you purify your garment, union with God will follow. If you sincerely seek union with God, then seek Him inside your hearts and leave the world alone

Being Muslims

Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Raheem
Assalammualaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

How beautiful is the akhlaq of true muslims?

Alhamdulillah for the blessing of islam & iman

When muslims are in need, they enjoined in sadaqah
When muslims are oppressed, they pray for their oppressor & corrects him
When muslims see another muslim's shame, they hide it
When muslims see corruption, they stop it by their hand, tongue and heart
When muslims are in pain, they are thankful to Allah
When muslims are in happiness, they are still thankful to Allah
When muslims sit by themselves, they reflect on their deeds & Allah
When muslims do their work, the end is in Allah's hand
When muslims smile, it is sadaqah
When muslims give presents, it is for brotherhood for the sake of Allah
When muslims travel, they invoke to Allah at all time
When muslims seek for knowledge, they seek it first from Allah
When muslims found a teacher, they make du'as for the teacher
When muslims learn about others' pain, they make du'as for them & help them
When muslims feel that they are betrayed, they repent to Allah

But one might wonder
Why did a muslim do all these deeds?
How did a muslim know about the benefits of all these deeds?
What are the benefits of all these deeds?

Seek knowledge of the hereafter
Learn the Quran
Study the Hadeeth
Discover the truth

That this life is for rent
And in any moment
You can be taken away from it
For the Final Judgement
So, like true muslims
Let's be prepared to be judged by Allah, The Most High

Subhanallah walhamdulillah lailahailallah wallahu akbar

Tiada Tandingan

Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Raheem
Assalammualaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

I read a blog by a muslima in the US and I am jealous that a nasheed by Raihan (asolatu wa-salam) managed to touch her heart before she embraced islam (in the will of Allah). She even included it in the blog! Masha Allah tabarakallah! I bet the singers from Raihan doesn't even realize or know about this but they did it. Subhanallah. Imagine, the barakah & the blessings that Allah bestows of a person who are able to call another to islam.

The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) has said: "Whoever guides [another] to a good deed will get a reward similar to the one who performs it." [Saheeh Muslim] Also, "By Allah, if Allah were to guide one man through you it would be better for you than the best type of camels (better than the world and what is in it)."
[Hadith al-Bukharee, Muslim]

Those who fulfill the Covenant of Allah and sail not in their plighted word; those who join together those things, which Allah has commanded to be joined, hold their Rabb in awe, and fear the terrible reckoning. Those who patiently persevere seeking the countenance of their Rabb; establish regular prayers; spend (out of the gifts) what We have bestowed for their sustenance, secretly and openly; and turn off Evil with good: for such there is the final attainment of the (Eternal) Hom
e Gardens of perpetual bliss. They shall enter there, as well as the righteous among their fathers, their spouses, and their offspring: and angels shall enter unto them from every gate (with the salutation): ‘Peace unto you for that you persevered in patience!’ Now how excellent is the final Home!
[ar-Ra'd:20-24]
Priceless

Breathtaking? Heaven's way better!

And the key to attain this is through sincerity, sacrifice & patience

P/S: Dear brothers and sisters, this is a website that provides nasheed from the likes of Maher Zain, Sammi Yusuf and they even have Talib al-Habib's Songs of Wayfarer! Talk about blessings! Alhmdulillah wa syukrillah.

Du'a On Grief, Trials and Tribulations

Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Raheem
Assalammualaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

Trials and tribulations. Facing those two are not easy and sometimes, it breaks your heart and tear you apart. However, Allah azzawajalla never ordains anything for no reason. Subhanallah, even the minutest of cells and organisms played its part in the ecosystem and the creation of the sun, the moon, time, air, water and even feelings have its role in this journey of ours before we face Allah azzawajalla on judgement day.

Easier said than done

Allah mentions in surah al-Hadid verse 22-23 and at-Taghabun verse 11 that He (azzawajalla) had specifically put forth what will happen to us in every minute, seconds and breath that we take. This is to make us be humble and are moderate in our joys and sorrows [refer al-Hadid] also for us to have faith in Allah azzawajalla and go back to Him (through repentance). Masha Allah, praise be to Allah the All Mighty, Most High, Most Compassionate.

I would like to share this few du'as on facing grief, anxiety and stress. May Allah show guide us to the straight path. Insya Allah.

Anas r.a. said that when anything caused grief to the prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he would say: "Yaa Haiyyu, Ya Qayyumu birahmatika asta-rgeeth" (O' Living One, O' Self-Existent One, by Your Mercy I seek help).
[HR Tirmidhi]

Abu Bakr r.a reported Allah's Messenger (pbuh) as saying, 'the supplications to be used by one who is distressed are: "Allahumma rahmataka arjuu, falaa takilni ila nafsi tarfata 'ayn, wa auslihlii sya'knii kullah, laa ilaha illa ant" (O' Allah, Your Mercy is what I hope for. Do not entrust me to myself for the glance of an eye, but put all my affairs in good order for me. There is no God but You)
[HR Abu Dawud]

Taken from The Noble Words: Remembrance and Prayers of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) by Ibn Taymiyyah r.h

Insya Allah
, there will be more to come but I think that these two suffice as these are the ones that can be memorized easily.

However, I would like to remind myself that du'as are not enough to stand alone on itself. We must make du'a (in whatever conditions you are in) and this must be followed by strong faith in Allah azzawajalla and following His divine Commands. I mean, seriously, it would feel really complete to ask Allah azzawajalla without the guilt-laden inadequacies of being heedless of Him. But, if we are heedless, there are still time to repent and mend our ways and self. Insya Allah.

This is also a reminder for me who are nothing but a faqeer in front of Allah. May Allah guide us to His path, encapsulate us in His Mercy and Forgiveness, cleanse our soul and never let us astray. Allahumma ameen.

Wallahua'lam
All praise be to Allah, Lord of the universe

Just Ask

Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Raheem
Assalammualaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

And your Lord says, “Call upon Me; I will respond to you.”
[surah al-Mukmin/Ghafir:60]

O' Allah, O' Allah, O' Allah
There are so many things I want to beg from You for I am a faqeer to You

Dan Sebenarnya

Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Raheem
Assalammualaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

Insya Allah, in another few weeks, I will be back in school - to teach as a real teacher.

I remembered during our days of practicum, my beloved sisters cum colleagues were excited to spread the message and example of islam to the other teachers & the students. Well, lets just say that Allah ordained us to learn more than what we have bargained and we realized that in reality, spreading islam is not merely through talking and preaching per se. There's more to islam than that and I realized that we learned it the hard way. Alhamdulillah wa syukrillah.

It was different from what we had gone through before.

When we were in the UK, everything came to us like thirst quenching rainfalls where the spirit of islam, the knowledge of the hereafter, the brother/sisterhood of love and compassion, the energy and also the tinkle of opportunities to learn more about islam swept away our jahili ways and scrubbed clean our soul. Though it was hard and challenging to change, we made it. We actually made changes that we had never imagined and were a far cry from our innocent and worldly aims. Subhanallah, those were the days.

Alhamdulillah for the nikmat of islam and iman

But when we came back to Malaysia, masha Allah, the reality of what Malaysia had become (or had always been - wallahua'lam) hit us on the face like a smack of icy cold water. Everything changed. At first, we tried our very best to keep up all our methods of sustaining our iman and some of the most potent thing that worked (alhamdulillah) were constant reminders through our halaqahs (meetings) and making sure that we followed the sunnah (works better after learning and knowing its virtues). However, the wave of enticing worldly comforts were so great that it really hit hard on some of us (actually, most of us) and have its profound effect on the others as well. This is exactly like the sayings of the prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) on the essence of brother/sisterhood in islam - like a body and if one part is hurt, the other body parts will feel the pain through fever and discomforted sleep. In the will of Allah, all of us faced this harsh brutality of tribulation of sisterhood and iman with great pain and utter discomfort. Thus were the beginning of a great time of tribulation for us, we began to trade some of our precious time for worldly love and materials that the prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had put as an analogy as a useless carcass.

How dangerous were one sin that leads to another.

But, alhamdulillah we still keep up with our halaqah(s) though sometimes it became clear that we concealed lots of secrets and sins of our own sisters within the halaqah as if sweeping all those sins under the rug were the best thing to do. Gone were the days of honest reminders. Well, it was not the best thing to do and when we managed to at least be honest to each other (not on sins as there is a hadeeth on concealing one's own sins as Allah had concealed it for him/her) by being open more on what we need from each other to remember Allah, the damage was done. Astaghfirullah.

Zipping our mouth, covering our ears and blinding our hearts towards 'a part of us' that did sins and even our own selves that were becoming heedless towards Allah were the worst thing that we had done and Allah punished us soundly for that.

Let us be true muslims again

Hence, after all the months of thinking and reflecting, I feel that the best manner to approach everything now is through mending ourselves. Yes, true were all the words of our Creator and also our model teacher (peace and blessings be upon him) that everything starts and ends with us. We have to make ourselves as better muslims so that Allah perfects everything around us. Alhamdulillah Allah provided me (and us) the sustenance to learn from our mistakes and corrects it while we can.

Before I end this lament of mine, there is another thing I wanted to write.

I missed my sisters in iman. I will never lie about that (though I am married already) and I really miss them. I missed the honesty from the ex-house 32 residents, the tender loving care and sacrificefrom my ex-house 15 housemate, the constant reminders by our ex-house 19 residents and the thirst for knowledge from ex-house 20's resident. I missed the last-minute preparation to go to 'camps' and also feeling of having to save money for it. I missed the madrasah ramadhan where we had a marathon of tadarus Quran that enables us to understand that the Quran is meant for us to try our very best to follow wholly and not merely following some verses and leaving other verses for 'next time' or 'when the time comes'. I missed those days a lot.

But, as time passed, I will try to re-live those days with what I have today and may Allah provide me with the sustenance and the strength to do so. Insya Allah.

May Allah forgive us, cleanse us from sins and guide our hearts and body on the straight path that were once trodden by the prophets and the messengers (peace be upon them) also the tabi'in. Allahumma ameen.
